“EVERYTHING IS IN ORDER” is an artistic doucumentation of the abandoned settlements of the Rhineland lignite mining district located in the triangle of the cities Cologne, Düsseldorf and Aachen. The pictures were taken in the years 2009 to 2013. By walking through the silent places the first impression of an idyll transformes into a horrow show. These houses have been standing vacant for years. No life exists here anymore. But no degeneration is evident anywhere. On the contrary – orderliness and cleanliness still prevail to a bizarre level of perfection. The gentle comparison of similar houses, doors and windows unearths orderliness as a synonym for the feeling of security, as an ideal of home. As long as orderliness reins, then we are civilised human beings. To the bitter end the former inhabitants continue to tend their doomed home. A farewell with dignity. Until the diggers arrive.
