Women football has a turbulent history. This book offers its readers the possibility to get to know the living environment of these mostly young women, who play football. The sport unites them across borders of origin, conventions and faith. Regardless of all kinds of discrimination – due to nationality, religion, sexual orientation, and social status – women are playing football in Cairo, Ramallah, Istanbul, and Berlin. In order for them to keep doing so, they need recognition and visibility. This book describes the beginnings and the current situation of women football in Germany, Palestine, Egypt and Turkey.
